Here’s a tip
on a term commonly used in the world of DJs. The Crab Scratch gets its
name from the way your hand looks (like a crab) when executing this move.
However, DJ Qbert, the inventor of the move credits a night in Beirut where
he heard a mispronunciation of the French word crepe. To him it sounded
like the waiter was offering him crabs for dessert, which he found very
funny. Using your thumb like a spring on the fader knob, while using the
other four fingers to twiddle the fader itself completes a Crab Scratch.
