What is Goa music? Similar to Trance music, at its simplest level Goa is a psychedelic form
of Trance music. At its more complex level, Goa is an entire lifestyle,
based on the ‘sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll’ ethos. It takes its name form
a beach in India that was frequented by hippies, rock stars, and travelers
in the sixties. The hallmark of Goa is its heavy bass combined with ‘trippy’
effects-laden keyboards. There are also a host in mixed-in psychedelic
sounds, typically strange and unrelated, dogs barking, babies crying, etc.
